The Arkansas Dyslexia Support Group will continue to provide professional development to schools, as well as consultation and direct services to families and students all at no cost.
Advocacy and Assistance
ADSG provides advocacy services at all levels to families seeking remediation. Audie Alumbaugh and her associates attend over 150 IEP or 504 meetings each year with families, assisting these families in obtaining the help and support their child needs.

Mini-Grant Awards to Interventionists
ADSG offers encouraging mini-grant awards to dyslexia interventionists who demonstrate positive outcomes in their work with dyslexic students.
Beginning in 2024 the Arkansas Dyslexia Support Group will offer 25% of its income from the ADSG License plate as awards for interventionists. The awards will be based on student outcomes. Applications will be posted early Spring 2024.
Training for Interventionists and Advocates
In the past the ADSG has trained individuals in Orton-Gillingham programs; however, the opportunities have been sporadic and based on availability of funds from sources that have not been stable. Advocacy Training has occurred each year but with no way to pay advocates, the training has had little impact in growing our number of advocates.
Beginning in 2024, 25% of the revenue from the ADSG license plate will go to training interventionists and advocates and 50% of the license plate income will provide financial support to those advocates ready and willing to serve students and families!
As part of our “Pay it Forward” program, for every student our interventionists get paid to tutor, they will tutor one child at no cost.
Enrollment in the Neurodevelopment of Words Program
In addition to our own ”home grown” interventionists, the ADSG will support enrollment in the NOW! (Neurodevelopment of Words) Program. For students previously enrolled in intervention programs who showed little growth. This service may be requested by a parent, teacher, or student.
